2021 was an incredible year for Curate. Our goal with the year was to take bold, strategic steps to build serious momentum for long term growth. We feel that we’ve delivered!
The biggest news of the year is that we launched the Curate App in the summer of 2021, and saw it grow to over 50,000 active users by December. We deployed the app in two phases: The gasless NFT Marketplace and the Physical Goods Marketplace. Being able to buy/sell both physical goods and NFT’s within the same app was an ambitious vision but incredibly well worth it. We’re now beginning to see our artists not only minting NFT’s but printing them as well (as physical prints or on clothing). Our NFT artists who still do physical art are excited to be able to sell every work they do through our app, regardless of the format. It’s an absolute game changer.
After successfully launching our app, we rounded out the year by doing a complete overhaul of the user interface (UI) to become more intuitive, and aesthetic. We also worked on updating the user experience (UX) of the app as well, by tweaking features to better suit the needs of our artists and buyers. While there are certainly more updates to come, we’re extremely proud of the look and feel of our app on the Apple and Android operating systems. Both the framework and feel of the app is firmly in place to really start scaling up in this next year.
Our major app update wasn’t just about looks, and feel, however. We also added in-app staking. Staking was a function we had long-promised, and it is great to be able to say it was “a promise made, a promise kept”. Holders of the $XCUR token can now earn a competitive 10% APY by staking the tokens easily in-app. Staking adds to the list of reasons to own and hold $XCUR.
Another upgrade to the ecosystem came by way of lowering our commission rates on sales. Our commission was already set at a very low 4% but we successfully brought it down to 0% for those who own a minimum amount of XCUR. This means, we can boast that our artists are able to buy down the commission to 0% AND earn APY on their XCUR by staking it. There are precious few (if any) NFT marketplaces on the planet who are able to say they’re able to do anything remotely close to this.
2021 was also an excellent year for partnerships:
Throughout the year, we partnered with multiple blockchains in order to make our NFT marketplace a true multichain force to be reckoned with. Solana (SOL) is the first blockchain partnership to be fully realized. This SOL integration now allows for SOL-based NFTs to be minted as well as imported/exported to the app. Many other exciting and prominent partnerships were made, and they will be integrated in 2022. In no particular order, they are: Polkadot, Avalanche, Elrond, Algorand, Polygon, Theta, and Skale. Some heavy-hitters, indeed.
Aside from blockchain partnerships that directly tie to minting NFTs, we partnered with Floki, and are excited to integrate their token for payment on our app. We also linked up with the Divine Anarchy NFT project and had an extremely successful drop of limited edition NFTs (available only on Curate) which sold for $1000s of USD. SOL Chicks is another NFT project we partnered with in 2021 and are eagerly waiting for it to come to fruition in early 2022. We have also partnered with Binance Smart Chain (BSC) for payment integration and Chainlink for our XCUR/ETH price feed.
Lastly, we partnered with some major (non-blockchain) companies for future development. XCUR is able to be used on Travala for payments, and we have also partnered with Amazon AWS Activate for access to global listings for use in our marketplace. This partnership brings with it an immense amount of potential as we look to really develop our physical goods marketplace further in the upcoming year.
With growth like this, it’s not a surprise we’ve also added a number of new employees to the team, and now have 20 people working on our project. With each new team member we celebrate continued growth and success.
All in all, it was a tremendously productive and successful year for us. And the best part is, we’re truly just getting started. 2022 is going to be the best yet. Glad you’re with us now, and we hope you will continue to be well into the future.
Happy New Year!
From everyone at Curate.style
